Amen. I have experienced this (am experiencing it now, with apologies to my hanging plants) and absolutely agree with your assessment. I’m starting to hate the damn things, drooping silently in the unrelenting sun. My children, on the other hand, do NOTHING silently.

I love toast, though.

Bob, thanks. I'm sure the chipmunks appreciate your efforts. Actually I think my chipmunks would appreciate you efforts. Mine have been forced onto a heart healthy diet thanks to a box of stale cheerios. ***** de, we had curbside service in our old town. It's one of the few things I miss about the place. I used containers similar to these when we moved. They were good for dishes and glassware. ***** men, the community demographics are probably revealing when it comes to the compliance, but I also think the facility receives good publicity in the community papers. ***** sari, awwww shucks.

de, there will always be the last minute rush. I think it depends on the person as to how much they really want to know about your daily life. Some are more comfortable with their memory of who you were rather than how you have changed.

These are fun! Even though our move is less imminent now, I still need to do some packing and organizing. This sort of project would be just the ticket to Procrastinationberg I could get into.

As far as recycling goes, we just got those giant single-stream bins, so all the sorting is done at a mammoth center in Hartford, paid for by my very high taxes.

That’s a clever use of litter containers – especially for compost. We usually take our scraps out daily to our compost “pile”. Since Laura is mowing more often and she refuses to bag the clippings, the compost pile is now a compost mound with the occasional addition of kitchen remnants – which, I suspect, feeds the chipmunks instead of the enriching the compost.

I like your labels. That’s a lot of work.

A good argument for having your family nearby. They can visit for a short time, AND THEN GO HOME. I think days of enforced togetherness tests almost any family bond, unless ll can agree to some down time where doing nothing is okay.

If it were me, and I knew I was having guests six months in advance, there still would be a two day rush to the finish line. Mostly because I think fresh linens and groceries are the biggest part of having people in, and you can’t really do that ahead of time.

It sounds like you offered the perfect blend of activities. In hindsight, I often think that we didn’t offer enough of a glimpse into our real lives, the places and things we actually do, for the visitors. But with that, I’m assuming that they really want to KNOW US, not just have a place to sleep.
