I’ve long been a Dick Francis fan. You’re right – they’re not that demanding, but enjoyable non the less. I’ve been a bit hesitant about reading the ones written/co-written by his son though. For the last few years, though, my favorite has been Terry Pratchett.

Bob, I’ll look into John McCormack’s books. I read Dick Francis when I want a fast read. His books are mysteries set around the horse racing circuit. THey don’t involve much intense thought on the part of the reader, but he manages to write about the same setting without making it dull.

I loved To Kill A Mockingbird. I’ve always liked the movie, but loved the book. In the same vein of “slice of life in the rural south” literature, I also like John McCormack’s books about his veterinary practice in rural Alabama and Ferrol Sam’s trilogy about a young man who grew up in rural Georgia before & during WWII.

De, the weather has been crazy; mild winter followed by a schizophrenic spring. This is the first year I’ve seen Lady’s slipper and flame azaleas, unfortunately most of the trillium were spent.

I am amazed all this is blooming at the same time both here and there. Although, it’s been years since I have seen a Lady Slipper. I’ve been trying to remember where I last saw one so I’d have a reliable place to start hunting.

Have fun. The Smokies are high on my to-visit list.

I’m not sure it’s a disappearing species, Bob. I think they’ve adapted to a broader habitat. I’ve seen them this far north year round.

My excitement at being able to comment waned when I tried to with my iPhone. I have more trouble with that damned thing. The 4S is buggy. I never had any trouble with my 3.

It is good you recorded it here – the mullet is a disappearing species and its appearances are increasingly rare in the wild.

De, I used to have a lot of these in a drawer, but now I have to search for them….Alas the popularity of drawstrings and ziplocks.
