Bob, living in the town limits reduces violent options. Bringing the suet feeder in at night seems to be deterring it. Should this fail, there are two humane solutions being considered, due to legality concerns though it would be best I not specify.

sari, the other feeders do make a mess (or the birds make a mess of the feeders?) What variety of hummingbirds? We only seem to have the ruby throated.

I cannot attest to their effectiveness, however, since we have birds aplenty without the feeders. chipmonks too.
